April 2022

We are looking for a new board member to join our team!

Are you interested in crafts, working with people with additional support needs, retail or marketing? Or do you have a skill that you'd like to bring to Crafting Together? We would love to hear from you.

Who are we:

Crafting Together CIC is a social enterprise set up in 2018. We are passionate about creating work experience opportunities for adults with additional support for learning needs. We currently have twelve people (18 -30 years old) participating in regular workshops at our studio in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. Makers engage in jewellery making, weaving, sewing and arts workshops.

Crafting Together products are sold on our website and across seven retailers in Glasgow, Paisley and Dumbarton. Income from sales goes back into supporting our social enterprise aims.

At Crafting Together we provide meaningful learning and skill development opportunities for our Makers in a welcoming and supportive space.

The role of the board member:

We currently have 5 board members, with a range of backgrounds including: additional support for learning, educational psychology, health & safety, finance and employment. We are keen to expand the Board by recruiting up to 2 new members during 2022 and are excited to hear from you.

We recognise that to deliver our inclusive organisations aims effectively we require additional skills at Board level. We would like to recruit someone with experience in the creative craft industries (teaching, making, selling, management or exhibiting), equalities or marketing.

In recruiting new members we want to increase the diversity of the Crafting Together CIC board, and so we particularly welcome applications from disabled people, the Global Majority, and LGBTQIA+ people. We will offer support for those interested in joining the board who face barriers.

Board members work in a voluntary capacity and are expected to attend at least 8 of our 10 meetings a year. These are generally held online on the third Tuesday of each month at 5pm.

We would like to recruit members who will act on behalf of Crafting Together and promote Crafting Together CIC positively across their networks and communities.

How to apply:

Get in touch expressing your interest. Explain why you would like to be part of Crafting Together CIC, your experiences and how you would contribute to achieving our social enterprise aims. If possible, attach a recent CV.

Your expression can be submitted either written, video or audio format.
